3 different workshops for anyone pursuing any of 3 different PMI Certifications: (1) Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®; (2) Program Management Professional (PgMP)®; or (3) Project Management Professional (PMP)®, all presented as a Live Virtual Classroom, accessible to everyone everywhere.
PMI Certification Application Strategy Course: Before you can take PMI certification exams, you are required to complete an application so Project Management Institute (PMI) can validate your years of experience per the requirements of the certification. The application process can be overwhelming so we’ve put together a workshop where we take an in-depth look at each step and include helpful tips to make the process a little less daunting. In this course you will learn how to fill PMI Certification application with right wording and description.
Description: PMI has an elaborate process of reviewing and approving applications and this workshop is designed to arm prospects with the essential knowledge, process, and tips to pass the PMI’s rigorous Application Process. This includes a preliminary review to ensure applicant’s qualifications are met and the application is completed properly. Certification applications commonly undergo stringent review when PMI does not see you have project management experience and when you do not document project details in appropriate manner. There may be an optional audit. A panel review by other qualified professionals will make sure the applicant has the required qualifications. Upon approval of the application, the applicant now has one year to complete the exam
Objective:
- Describe the application process for certification
- Discuss and create a career map to highlight the participant’s project leadership experiences
- Highlight the important components that PMI looks for in this certification
- Explain the audit process and how to prepare in advance to successfully pass the audit
- Apply the important concepts in project management in the application questions and essays
- Effectively Document Project Descriptions within 500 characters (Including spaces)
- Write a one-sentence project objective and a one sentence project outcome.
- Explain Project deliverables summarized by process groups and strategic use of acceptable abbreviations like IN, PL, EX, MC, and CL in lieu of Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing.
Who Should Take This Course: Each workshop is geared toward toward helping individuals prepare to take their chosen PMI Certification Exam (PMP, PgMP, or PfMP) and enhance project management skills! This course brings everything together, help explain topics you are struggling with, set your expectations accurately, and build the knowledge and confidence necessary to help you pass what will be a challenging exam. The reviews are thorough but interactive, allowing students to discuss, restate, participate in brief drills, and experience practice exam questions. You’ll learn insider tips for project documentation like how each project description should start with the objective succinctly defined, and include the result, how you don’t have to have formal titles but it is mandatory you demonstrate you performed the role you defined.

Do You Have Unclaimed Project Experience Hours?
PMP Certification is not only for those who work in IT, the words “project manager” do not need to appear on your resume or work history to be eligible and leading a project from start to finish is not required for “leading and directing” experience.
There is a common misconception about the project management experience of PMP certification eligibility requirements. Many people think that in order to be eligible for PMP certification, they must have managed a project. However, PMI clearly states that project management experience here means participating in a project and this might or might not be a leading role. Regarding Project Management Experience – You need 4500 hours of experience if you have a 4 year college or university degree (bachelors degree or equivalent). Other wise if you have a diploma of equivalent then you need 7500 hours of experience.
Do you have unclaimed project experience hours? Do more research and think about the “projects” you engaged in mindful of PMI’s definition of a project as “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service.” Thankfully PMI has a broad definition of what constitutes a project. Essentially it can be anything that hasn’t been done before and has a fixed end point. In other words anything with a specific deliverable and deadline can be considered a project. You may have significant time vested in project management in practice, while not in title, that you’re not aware of. The task is identifying and documenting that experience that you may indeed have vested in your career history. It’s not unusual to learn applicants have overlooked parts of their career history due to terminology differences. For example, have you worked on planning an annual general meeting or conference? Although your employer at the time may not have described that activity as a project, it may qualify for the PMI application. If you used project management processes on the annual meeting or conference effort, then you may be able to use such a project on your PMP application for example.
We provide review services for PMI PMP, PgMP. and PfMP applicants. Each certification presents it’s unique challenges and perhaps the most common concerns with PMP applications for example include:
- will my project experience be accepted?
- how should I word my project descriptions?
- what should I do when I’m not in contact with my former employer?
- will volunteer or informal project experience be counted?
- do I need to delay my application until I have more impressive-sounding experience?
- what will I need to do if I’m audited?
The service includes a comprehensive review of your application by a credential holder of the very same certification, PMP, PgMP, and or PfMP. The review focuses on three main considerations:
- Qualification Assessment – We will give you our honest opinion of your qualifications meeting the requirement of the credential. This includes the basic quantifiable requirements such as years of experience but also the relevance of your experiences based on the essay questions.
- Writing Assessment – Evaluation of the structure and clarity of your application, especially the essay questions. We will also make suggestions to improve the overall application.
- General Recommendations – Overall, we will provide our recommendations on how to best fill some gaps in the applications, whether it is in the usage of concepts or making your experiences more relevant to the credential.
We will provide our review in writing, directly commenting in your application and essays. The fee for this service is XXX for the first iteration and YYY for additional iterations. You can purchase each review separately. Exam Reviews fix or avoid rejected PMI applications guiding you safely past all the hidden traps of the application and generates your project description, hours breakdown, and other parts that look unimportant, but can cause major problems.
Important Notes (The application review is only available in U.S. English, no other language is offered. We do not write or rewrite your application. While we provide insightful comments, we DO NOT directly write your application. We reserve the right to reject an application review at any time, and we will refund the paid fee. We generally reject an application due to poor writing).
We do not guarantee PMI’s acceptance. PMI changes its reviewers and its processes frequently, and the reviewer’s subjectivity is difficult to gauge. Furthermore, some rejections are simply due to unmet requirements. To start the review process send us an email to cert@pmoadvisory.com with a Microsoft Word version of your application, which you will need to manually copy / paste the content. You can also send us a PDF, in which we will convert to a MS Word file. Please be aware in this case, some formatting may be off. The general turnaround is up to 5 business days. If this service if of interest to you take advantage of our 50% off one time discount for a 1st iteration of our PMP, PgMP, and or PfMP application review service. Simply email us and say, “send me a 50% off coupon” while you further consider this service, we’ll promptly reply to you via email with your coupon!
